1. What is this blog about?
This blog is a creative platform where I share paintings, cartoons, caricatures, poems, stories, articles, personal experiences, and creative ideas. It also explores creativity, literature, social issues, and art education.
2. Who is the author of this blog?
This blog is created and maintained by Harisankar Kalavoor, an artist from Kalavoor, Alappuzha, India. I work as a cartoonist, painter, writer, music album producer, and art teacher.

👨🎨 About the Artist
20. How do you evaluate yourself as a painter?
Painting has been part of my life since childhood. However, my understanding of creative painting began after reading Chithra Samrachana by S. L. Larius. Inspired by its principles, I created a few paintings, became a student of artist K. Palani, and held my first solo exhibition in August 2000.
Experimenting with different painting styles delayed the development of a single signature style, but it also gave me the freedom to explore a wide range of artistic possibilities.
21. How do you evaluate yourself as a writer?
I have devoted much of my life to reading, writing, and participating in literary camps and cultural forums. Among all my creative pursuits, I believe writing is my strongest area, and I feel capable of producing many more meaningful works.
22. How do you evaluate yourself as a music composer?
Although I loved music from an early age, I did not have the opportunity to study it formally during my childhood. I have since continued learning music under several teachers for many years.
My songs are usually born with both lyrics and melody together from a single idea. Therefore, I consider myself primarily a songwriter. Since I am not a formally trained composer, I generally compose only my own lyrics, presenting my ideas through simple melodies and rhythms.
23. Do you think working in many creative fields has reduced your opportunity to excel in one?
I have always given my inner artist complete freedom. I chose not to limit my life by pursuing a government job or settling into responsibilities too early. Had I focused on only one discipline, I might have achieved greater professional success in that field. However, working across different creative disciplines has enabled me to develop unique ideas and create innovative works that combine multiple art forms. I continue my artistic journey with excitement about discovering new possibilities by connecting different creative fields.
🎵 "Silsila" Music Video FAQ
24. What does the word "Silsila" mean?
"Silsila" means continuity, a chain of connections, or an endless journey.
25. What message does the song Silsila convey?
Life often reaches moments when people feel trapped by difficulties, sometimes even leading to thoughts of suicide. Yet many of those hardships gradually fade with time. Youth, love, and life itself continue. The song encourages us to celebrate life by living actively, enjoying music, exercise, good health, and the present moment.
26. Isn't it contradictory to say that life is as fragile as a bubble while also saying that life continues?
No. These ideas are not contradictory; they describe two different aspects of life.
Each human life is fragile and temporary, yet life itself is an endless flow. One generation is followed by another, and every day brings something new. Just as we cannot step into the same river twice, every moment is both unique and part of an ongoing continuity.
That is why philosophers encourage us not to dwell excessively on the past or worry too much about the future, but to live fully in the present. Silsila celebrates this spirit by encouraging us to embrace life and its continuous journey with hope.
27. How was Silsila created?
The opening lines were written in Hindi when I was about twenty-two or twenty-three years old after purchasing my first keyboard. At the time, I had read that Hindi and Tamil were particularly suitable for energetic songs, which inspired my choice of language.
28. What inspired this song?
Like many young people of my generation, I was deeply influenced by A. R. Rahman's music. Songs from films starring Mithun Chakraborty, especially I Am a Disco Dancer, also inspired me, along with artists such as Bappi Lahiri, Alisha Chinai, Jassie Gift, and Rimi Tomy.
Initially, I never intended to release Silsila as a professional song. However, after recording a demo on a tape recorder using keyboard accompaniment, I felt it had the potential to become popular, and many others shared the same opinion.
29. Did you expect criticism?
Yes. At that time, fast-paced songs often received criticism from music reviewers. I also expected professional competition and obstacles within the music album industry.
30. What other music videos have you produced?
I have always tried to create music videos with unique themes.
My first animation music video, Yanthrappattu (2009), was one of the earliest Malayalam animation songs created for adult audiences. Later came Silsila, which appeared in numerous television programs, films, and stage performances.
I also created songs promoting organic farming, environmental awareness, unity through Kerala's traditional boat races, and an animated music video highlighting the dangers of plastic pollution.
Through these productions, I had the opportunity to collaborate with many respected and talented artists.
31. How did the media respond to your other creative works?
Apart from Silsila, none of my paintings, cartoons, poems, stories, or music videos received significant criticism. However, I feel that my other creative works have not received sufficient attention from mainstream media.
32. Did you expect Silsila to be discussed so widely?
Yes. I believe that many of the ideas expressed in the song have not yet been fully understood, and for that reason I believe it will continue to be discussed in the future.
🌟 Creativity & Criticism
33. How should artists deal with criticism on social media?
Artists should face criticism with courage and also be willing to improve themselves whenever necessary. If the criticism becomes personal abuse, ignoring it is not always the best solution. Many people who engage in online harassment hide behind anonymity. When necessary, such behaviour should be addressed through legal means, while also using social media to present your own perspective responsibly.
34. What advice would you give to young artists facing criticism?
Every strong criticism offers an opportunity for growth. If we are willing to identify our weaknesses, improve our work, and continue moving forward with determination, criticism can become a powerful force for artistic development.
